Context
Health insurance schemes programs’ evaluation contributes to make deeper the reflection on the perceived results and/or problems, to proceed to further relevant changings and improvements.
This document is an evaluation report of the Nkoranza Community Financing Health Insurance Scheme in Ghana, after eight years of operation.
Contribution
The program led in Nkoranza has proved to be successful in terms of sustainability and because it succeeded in making quality care affordable to a high percentage of vulnerable households all around the district. This is a model for other schemes and a reference for promotors interested in supporting this model experience.
Executive Summary
The report presents the evaluation’s mains findings (ex : Design of the Scheme ; achievement and scheme coverage ; household expenditure patterns and priorities ; etc...)
It also lists the problems which must be adressed (ex : Community misconceptions about the scheme and massive adverse selection ; lacks of health center services coverage, lacks of adequate operational transparency and management skills,etc...)
The evaluation report recommends ways for the scheme to resolve these problems.
Several documents are appended to the report, among those : the Household Survey Questionnaire and themes used in Focus Group Discussions.
